Black Widow

So, I was sitting in the living room earlier, eating a burrito with one hand and flipping through Maxim with the other, when my mom says it's not proper for me to be reading it.

Seriously?

It's as if I whipped out a copy of Penthouse and started panting. If my mom had recently flipped through a copy of Cosmo, she'd see that Maxim is pretty tame stuff. I mean, there are articles titled, "69 Secret Erogenous Zones" and "Fetishes for Each Day of the Year"... with diagrams and illustrations!! And I'm expected to freak out over some women in lacy underthings, creatively covering their breasts? C'mon now.

I was in line at Target and overheard a man ask his wife/girlfriend/lady friend (?), "Why is there so much sex in women's magazines? Is that all you think about?"

Yes. Yes, it is. :P

Anyway, I think of the partial nudity in Maxim as the bread of the sandwich. It's got funny comics, jokes, gadgets (oh, how I adore gadgets), and really interesting stories. This month's issue features a spread on Griselda Blanco (aka: The Godmother; aka: The Black Widow). This is actually what made me buy the issue:

Strong women fascinate me and it's a fascinating story.
